In addition to a vast array of activities and beautiful sites, Maui has several fascinating points of interest. Haleakala Crater is part of the world's largest dormant volcano. It is found in Haleakala National Park, an enormous park with an abundance of natural wonders including Oheo Gulch, a stunningly beautiful area also known as The Seven Sacred Pools.
Maui has the second largest waterfall in the United States. And, the largest tropical aquarium in the western hemisphere is located on Maui at the Maui Ocean Center in the southern section of the island.
The historic whaling town of Lahaina and the Road to Hana are must sees. The He Ui Cultural Arts Festival held in downtown Lahaina every first and third weekend each month provides excellent opportunities to view local artists' unusual work.
Famous beaches such as Kaanapali Beach and Ho'okipa Beach help make Maui the Hawaiian island with the most miles of swimmable beach. Makena State Park, a scenic wildland beach park, also provides excellent swimming, surfing, and sunbathing opportunities.
Excellent opportunities abound on Maui for activities such as shopping, golfing, fishing, hiking, exploring, appreciating the arts and culture, and many other things. Several outstanding golf courses are found on Maui. And, Maui is home to many interesting galleries and museums as well.
